The Pakistan Super League could witness the return of a familiar name as Multan Sultans appear close to making a comeback ahead of the 2026 season.
According to sources, CD Ventures has formally requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to rename the newly formed Sialkot Stallionz franchise as Multan Sultans. An official announcement is expected soon.

The development follows ownership changes surrounding the Sialkot franchise. After financial challenges reportedly faced by the previous stakeholders, CD Ventures, led by Gohar Shah, acquired a controlling stake and initiated plans for a brand reset before the team’s PSL debut.
The Multan Sultans name became available after the earlier franchise using the title was rebranded as Rawalpindi following an ownership shift involving Walee Technologies.
Cricket observers believe reviving the Multan identity could be a smart move, given its established fan base in South Punjab and strong PSL recognition.
PSL CEO Salman Naseer has hinted that a formal statement regarding the franchise’s ownership and identity will be issued soon.
